The Athene Archives
A digital gallery of original concepts, showcasing student art, photography, philosophical thought, and creative/argumentative writing. This project is meant to stimulate student involvement in the humanities!
So who are we?
The Athene Archives were made for poets, artists, lovers of the infinitely vast universe. The humanities are a dying field; there are less and less multipurpose platforms where students can simply publish without competition. Named after the Greek goddess Athena, The Athene Archives is a gallery project with the aim of spreading both creativity and wisdom. Submit your work (finished or not!) and contribute to the archives!

Creator Thoughts
Central to the Archives are thoughts. Along with providing a spotlight for an otherwise underserved field, the Archives are something of a thought record. The question we ask each of our contributors is why? Why did you weave words into a beautiful tapestry? Why did you feel the need to pick up the paintbrush, the camera, the pencil? What do you think? Show us the world through your lens.
| Title of Work | Author | Why? What was your inspiration? |
|---|---|---|
| In My Head | Diana Lagos | "Sometimes the thing that stops you is yourself. I wrote this piece inspired by the necessity that I have for always doing more an to try again until it's perfect." |
| My Arms Crossed in Verona; or, The Void | Daisy Zhang | "An experience I had in an Italian church during my freshman summer." |
| Stars | Syeda Bokhari | "To the strength we find within destruction." |
| bricks & memories | Anu Alexander | "The walls of our old family home." |
| Beauty in a Body | Sheryfa Rami | "I have always been passionate about art. After learning about the Greek art and history and literature for more than three years now, I wanted to make art look vulnerable and somehow perfect." |
| Dragons in Combat | Tony Gerges | "I created these dragons because of my deep interest in origami and complex, intricate designs. My interest and experience in creating origami dragons culminated in these high-level pieces from various sizes of pieces of origami paper." |
| Bloom | Anu Alexander | "The flowers i got long ago from someone i barely knew after a particularly strange hospital visit; it was nice to see that more people care about you than you know." |
| Soldiers, Poets, and No Kings | Sofia Barrios Gomez | "The song “Soldier, Poet, King” by The Oh Hellos, inspired the concept of this poem. I did not play into the lyrical style of the song nor the message, adding my own twist to the story. This poem is from a chapter in my book. It is about lost love and the parallels of roles we must play in society. Though old, this poem still reflects many feelings that stir in my heart and I hope to share it once more. " |
